Aimee Georgia as seen on, worn by, styled for, to create a meaning.
A special edition for the Aimee Georgia Journal is to collaborate, and connect with our community and inspirations.
I would like to introduce you to our first muse, Grace Green. A final year student at Whitecliffe College, studying sustainable fashion, and of course my flatmate.
I feel grateful to have my passion shared with the people closest to me and, to be able to connect through something we both love.
Whilst speaking with Grace, I held onto something she mentioned, “I am beginning to understand that my style is not limited to one sort”. I love the way this is worded. Your style can be effortlessly casual, it can be elegant and classy, it can be distressed and relaxed, or it can simply be practical for whatever you’re doing.
I encourage you to broaden your sense of style, and to understand what you love about an outfit, and what you don’t love. An amazing thing about clothing is that you don’t need to be limited to one style. You can try on many things, mix and match different pieces together, and figure out what suits you. When creating Aimee Georgia pieces, I design for the capsule wardrobe. I aim for every piece to have the ability to be dressed up or down, and to withstand the seasonal trends.
Find out how you can create your capsule wardrobe, with pieces you truly love, which describe you, and can take you through the seasons.
“I am fascinated by the creativity and freedom that thrives within the community”, said Grace. Inspiration to form your sense of style can be drawn by what’s around you. Inspiration can be found by observing, by taking notice, or by simply being still for a moment. I find inspiration through the people I see sitting in a local cafe, on their morning walk to work, when grabbing a drink with friends, or celebrating an occasion. Aimee Georgia’s design purpose is for these everyday activities, to create meaning and value in the daily tasks we may never think twice about. I would love for your Aimee Georgia pieces to become your favourite top to meet friends in, your comfort mini skirt to feel confident in, and your skinny scarf to keep you warm in the cooler months whilst feeling insanely stylish.
Grace mentions that she is, “inspired the most by love. My love for nature, my love for my family, my love for sisterhood, and my love for my passion. Finding beauty within everything is a special gift, and I find inspiration through seeking this beauty in my everyday life.”
What are you inspired by? And who are you inspired by?
Aimee Georgia is to create pieces that can form a memory that will stay with you forever.
One memory I cherish was whilst I was attending a music festival in the early months of 2022. A girl named Caitlin came up to me asking if I was Aimee Georgia, and she mentioned she had previously bought an item from me. This immediately made me smile. I was thrilled to know how happy she was with her purchase and to be able to meet her in person. Her boyfriend even mentioned that she adored the top, and would always talk about it. This interaction has and will stay with me forever. I feel blessed to know I’ve enhanced someone’s happiness with the clothing I produce. I will always be forever grateful to see you wearing Aimee Georgia.
I asked Grace if she had a particular memory that she had of wearing something she loved.
“My first memory of falling in love [with clothing] was with a chiffon scarf my mum would wear around her head. It was orange with a cheetah print, and it would ignite some kind of excitement within me. Every day before school, I would put on my uniform. My skirt, my top, my cardigan, my socks and shoes, and my mum's orange cheetah print scarf which I would tie around my neck. My uniform was never complete without it. I didn't understand it at the time, but now I can see it for what it was. A symbol of my passion.” “Clothes will always be the love of my life.”
Hearing these stories is what creates clothing to be so beautiful. The memories you can form whilst choosing to wear a certain piece of clothing, is why Aimee Georgia was created.
“The ability that clothes have to make myself and others feel, as the wearer and as the receiver, and how we can build limitless connections with each other simply through the art of self expression”, is the beauty of clothing.
They are, “much more than just garments, they can be used as a transmitter between me and the world to communicate my feelings, my passion, and my love for creativity”, said Grace.
Aimee Georgia much more than just garments, to create meaning.
With love always,
