BROOKLYN ELLIS
Who is Brooklyn?
Kia Ora! I’m Brooklyn, a London based, Māori, creative from the Deep South of New Zealand. I run a mental health space called @wordstohealyou where I share my passion and love for mental health and social impact.
Outside of that: I love the ocean, I love nature, I love fashion and styling. I love family. I’m a writer by trade, and my empathy thrives when I get to write poetry. But simply, anything to do with creativity - I love.
What are your aspirations and inspirations?
I aspire to make an impact in the world through writing, through mental health awareness and through impacting the people around me.
I am inspired by the women who have gone before me. I am inspired by them to be a woman who will continue to pave a way for the next generation of world changers.
I’m inspired to pave a way for young women who grew up like me, who face the same day-to-day challenges as me, who feel deeply, like me.
How would you describe your style?
My style has naturally evolved over the last couple years. Living in London has really expanded my fashion boundaries. I feel much more open to wearing anything and everything. Experimenting.
I love patterns and textures, I love colour and juxtaposing pieces. I love layering.
I’m inspired by the simplicity of Scandinavian fashion but also love the busyness of London street fashion. I sit somewhere in between the two!
What are your favourite things to do?
A typical weekend involves a lot of time with friends, one on one time with my husband, generally a trip into East London. Jolene cafe is a regular of mine!
Heading into the summer in the UK means I gratefully get to travel around Europe easily to experience the beautiful beaches of the world. Weekend trips are accessible and easy from London, so we try to make the most of that!
That truly is my favourite way to spend a weekend!
Lastly, how would you style Aimee Georgia?
I love a simple black dress with a beautiful silhouette!
The Amber dress is so luscious. This styled with some chunky black sandals and a beach bag is going to carry me through summer this year!
With love always,
Aimee Georgia x
